We’ll spend the day immersed in the Lindisfarne Gospels, a beautiful early-eighth-century manuscript which is written in a Celtic-style script known as Insular Half-Uncial.
The tutor Liz, will guide you through a close analysis of this lovely lettering style, and then it’ll be a practical, hands-on day getting to grips with writing it.
Everyone will have the opportunity to write out a short verse or quotation, with a decorative initial letter, in a historically authentic style. If you haven’t tried your hand at calligraphy before and would like an introduction to this wonderful art form, do join us!
Please note: you may join this course even if you did not attend Lindisfarne Lettering 1 that took place in October.
