Explore the language and culture of Italy through this interactive and friendly class where you will have plenty of opportunities to practise Italian through hands-on class activities such as discussions and sometimes looking at articles on current affairs.

Programme Details

We shall finish the textbook Nuovo Espresso 2 (chapters 7 to 10) and there will be extra materials provided by the teacher. This list is only indicative, as some topics may be explored in greater depth to reflect the interests of course participants. Through the course of the year, not just the autumn term, we shall be looking at:

· Revision of formal and informal Imperative

· The Imperative and pronouns

· Comparatives and superlatives

· The superlative form of adjectives and adverbs

· Introduction to the subjunctive: (what it is , why do we use it, to express necessity, hope or personal opinions)

Learning Outcomes:

· To further develop the language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing

· To consolidate listening and speaking skills to enable students to communicate in a wider range of simple everyday settings.

· To equip students with the vocabulary and grammatical structures required to read and write short, simple texts on familiar topics.

· To develop an insight into the cultural life of Italy

Previous Experience and Knowledge Needed?

2 years of evening classes or equivalent level of knowledge

Your tutor will advise you. Enrol to Italian Intermediate 2 in the spring term.

Adult Learn and Train offer courses through-out the year.

I am a native Italian speaker. I have studied modern languages at University in Rome and have taught Italian evening classes at all levels for many years as well as teaching Italian in schools in Cambridge. I have worked as an examiner for UCLES and Edexcel and as a translator and interpreter both in Italy and the UK.
